STUDIO POLICIES
Please review the following policies before you commit to studying voice or piano. You will be required to sign a lesson commitment form at your first lesson. If you have any questions regarding the information below, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Thank you!
PAYMENT POLICY
Lesson Fees
Hoxie: $20/half hour
Payment for the entire month of lessons is required at the first lesson of each month. You will be provided with a lesson schedule for the semester, including non-lesson dates due to holidays, etc. Payment at the beginning of the month reserves your place in my studio and represents a commitment to your musical study. No refunds.
Cash, checks, and credit/debit card will be accepted forms of payment. If your check does not clear for any reason, any bank fees incurred will be passed to you in order to rectify the situation. At this point, only cash will be accepted.
MATERIALS POLICY
As a musician, it is important that we set a precedent for our peers by respecting copyright rules and regulations. You will be required to purchase several books that will be used during your lessons. I will help determine which book(s) to purchase to ensure that the expense will be beneficial based on our use of the book. Copies of music and or vocalise exercise worksheets may be made and used in my studio, though it will be preferred that our main repertoire comes from published editions of manuscripts/music books.
CANCELLATION POLICY
If you need to cancel/miss a lesson, you must provide notice 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson by either calling or texting me at 785-675-1240, e-mailing me at karlallenpratt@gmail.com, or canceling via the student portal. Lack of notification by this deadline will be considered a “no-show” and you will not receive credit for that lesson. (Please leave a voicemail and/or send me a text message if I am unable to take your call).
If an unexpected illness or situation arises after the cancellation deadline, please notify me immediately. Lesson credits will be determined on a case-by-case instance in this situation.
Piano students only: If the illness does not inhibit your ability to conduct a lesson, a virtual lesson via Zoom may be held to avoid the need for a makeup lesson.
WEATHER POLICY
A credit will be applied for any lessons canceled due to inclement weather. Lessons will still be held even if the school is closed, but roads are safe enough for travel. Unless otherwise notified, please assume that lessons will occur as per usual.
ILLNESS
If you are currently ill or have recently been ill within the last 48 hours, please be mindful of others and do not come to lessons and potentially pass on "the bug." Singers with sore throats are not to come to lessons until fully healed. You must notify me in advance as per the policy above to ensure credit will be applied for the lesson(s) missed.
Again, if the illness does not inhibit your ability to conduct a lesson, a virtual lesson via Zoom may be held to avoid the need for a makeup lesson.
CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM
Chronic absenteeism is disrespectful and will not be tolerated. Until I am notified that you no longer wish to take lessons, you will be responsible for paying in full for all lessons missed in which no prior notification is received. I will contact you after three no-show/no-call lessons to see if you still wish to study.
